Movies about making movies occasionally have potential to be quite good, take “Saving Mr. Banks” as an example, an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee. However, compared to “Saving Mr. Banks”, Entourage is the third cousin, twice removed, that nobody likes, the one who has that foul odour that stings your nostrils as they pass, the one that gets drunk at a family dinner and insults your Mother. You may have guessed that I didn’t like Entourage and you’re right, I didn’t.

In the opening scene we see Eric (Kevin Connolly), Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and Johnny (Kevin Dillon) on a speedboat in Ibiza, heading towards a yacht with Vince (Adrian Grenier) on-board having a party celebrating the divorce of his wife following six days of marriage. The theme of this scene continues throughout. The four friends have regular parties, they’re always drinking and they are focussed on only one thing: Getting laid.

The four friends and agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) attempt to make the most amazing film ever, but run late and over budget, meaning they have to look for more funding from their Texan financier, Larsen McCredle (Billy Bob Thornton), resulting in a number of problems and storylines stemming from each character, mostly relating to women.

The objectification of women and obsession around money and sex in this movie is something that really put me off. The subject came across in a tone that didn’t feel humorous or light-hearted in any way. If felt awkward, embarrassing and not actually entertaining. I think that maybe because the acting wasn’t actually that good, it gave the appearance of being more realistic and therefore cringe worthy.

Produced by Mark Wahlberg, this movie had more cameos than you could shake a stick at, some of which occasionally actually made the film funny, these included those such as: Jessica Alba, Calvin Harris, Thierry Henry, Liam Neeson, George Takei, Mike Tyson, Pharrell Williams, Piers Morgan who I actually thought had a more pivotal role in the film than some of the main actors and Mark Wahlberg himself.
