The Intern

As soon as I saw the trailer for The Intern, I knew it was my kind of movie: motivating, uplifting and relatable. Bringing together what initially appears to be two polar opposite characters, we see Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro), a retired widower in his 70s, and Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), a busy CEO and founder of an online clothing business. These characters are bought together in this wonderful and touching story that pulls on heart strings and makes you laugh out loud.

Ben Whittaker has been a businessman all his life, once he reached retirement and got over the spectacle of it he started looking for something to further enrich his life and to get him out and about. This resulted in Ben answering an advertisement for a senior intern at Jules Ostin’s online clothing business and working directly for her. Jules is a very busy person, juggling a business she started from her kitchen a year and a half ago and a busy home life, she is sceptical of bringing an older person like Ben into her busy lifestyle.

The situations we see Ben and Jules in as they develop and evolve as characters with their great chemistry together are very realistic and relatable. The pure simplicity of the movie, combining hilarious comedy and dramatic moments, it is 121 minutes of perfection.

Whether you are seeing this movie on a date night or for a family movie night, Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro’s exemplary performances combined with a brilliant and creative storyline will have you walking away with a smile on your face.

Rating:  5 Star Rating
