Following the success of Skyfall I am left wondering where the Bond franchise will go from here directorial wise. Personally, considering Sam Mendes passes, I would like to see Christopher Nolan direct a Bond movie. I have many reasons as to why. Starting with ...

Christopher Nolan has already changed the way we look at superheroes. In 2005 he wrote and directed Batman Begins revamping the Batman franchise. The first of the superhero movies to be quite a phenomenon at the cinemas. He continued this achievement in 2008 and again in 2012 with his Batman trilogy. Following suite Marvel did the same with such characters as Iron-Man and Thor. As well as other DC movies being made, each making massive amounts of money at the box office.

Financially it would be a MASSIVE boost for the Bond franchise. The entire Bond film franchise has made around $6 billion dollars across the course of its 23 films, very impressive. However Christopher Nolan has only directed eight films, not many compared to other big Hollywood directors. But out of Nolan's eight movies, three of them have passed the billion dollar worldwide gross, with only eleven to ever do it. Out of all of his few movies he has made a grand total of over $3.5 billion worldwide! Incredible. Especially his last three movies to be released which have been excellent cinematic hits. If he was to do a Bond film it would easily bring it around $1 billion worldwide, especially with his current status in the film industry and the sheer amount of fans he has now got.

He has brought us several movie characters that have now became movie icons. These would include of course Batman and Bruce Wayne, his main movie character so far. The Joker, portrayed by the late Heath Ledger, which is now considered as one of the best movie characters to ever grace a screen. Not to mention all of the other legendary characters such as Bane, Ra's Al Ghal and Cobb. Many of the actors in his films have had Oscar worthy performances with many taking home the prize. In each of his directorial films he focus' on the characters and script. Developing them the whole way through creating some very great lead protagonists and characters.

With being able to do such character development and being able to get his hands on to a Bond film the limits are endless! No doubt he would be able to make a villain that is memorable, much like Javier Bardem's 'Silva' in Skyfall, or the infamous Blofeld. In many of his movies he has a dual or triple villain system, which could be an interesting feature in a Bond film. For example in Batman Begins there a three villains present; The mob, Scarecrow and Ra's Al Ghal. And in The Dark Knight holding The Joker and alongside him is Two-face, both being characters that got their equal antagonist plans into the plot. And finally in The Dark Knight Rises he had partially Catwoman and the legendary Bane. In each of his movies he has been able to develop a sense of style in each of them, Batman Begins held Fear, The Dark Knight held Chaos and The Dark Knight Rises with Pain. He could easily shape a espionage and action theme in a Bond film. And it is also noteworthy that he can control do action sequences well, on top of romance and keeping the plot in game throughout all of his films in a great balance.

Now mainly. He is a huge Bond fan! He has in many interviews said that he is a very big Bond fan, which his favourite movie being On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969). Being a Bond fan he will knows what the fans like, he knows what strings to pull to get the audience to enjoy the film. In his 2010 movie Inception he created many sequences that are 'Bond-ish'. Especially at the end of the film in a snow landscape, very much like the movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service, just updated. During the production of the film, to get the actors to understand the setting of the film he even made them watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service screening to get the feel for the setting. (He also did a similar thing in The Dark Knight production, getting his cast and crew to watch Heat, in order to get the same city atmosphere into his movie.) He has made many Bond like sequences in his movies, such as the beginning of The Dark Knight Rises, the hijacking of the air plane is very much like a pre-title sequence to a Bond film. Also in Inception with the hotel sequences and the snow ending drawn specifically from that of On Her Majesty's Secret Service. With no second unit teams he oversees every single shot and all cinematography of a film himself - getting it all right, his way.

A few other points to be mentioned are that he sticks to a traditional great cinematic experience, keeping well away from 3D. But filming expertly in IMAX. He also minimal amounts of CGI use throughout his movies, doing it all 'for real' with stunts and make-up work. He is an expert in the movie world, he gets the audience thinking and talking about his movies, hyping them up; From the the ending of Inception, was it or was it not a dream? the ending of Batman Trilogy, I can't believe it happened.
