A retrospective look at Daniel Radcliffe starring in the upcoming horror 'Horns'

As humongous Harry Potter fans, we have always been curious what Daniel Radcliffe does next. Even though he's done some solid work, he still has yet to shed his Harry Potter image. While we don't think he'll ever be able to completely accomplish that, he can definitely make people look at him in a new light. Personally we believe Radcliffe is a fine actor. He just hasn't found that special role which will propel his career forward in a major way. Horns could very well be that role.

Radcliffe had his ups and downs in the earlier Potter films; never particularly impressed. From Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (the fifth entree in the series) and onwards, however, he turns in great performances. The biggest improvement were the emotional scenes, where we went from not buying it, to truly feeling the pain. What we are most looking forward to is him showing his darker (perhaps a bit unhinged) side. That's an aspect of his acting which he hasn't fully been able to unleash. Of course this won't be his first post Potter role. The Woman in Black, although not excellent, was a movie a little underrated. Specifically pertaining to Radcliffe, he showcased his more subtle abilities. Was an understated performance, yes, but effective.

We disagree with most criticism aimed towards him, especially that he's wooden. Radcliffe has been on quite the streak recently, with his critically-acclaimed roles as Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings and Wallace in What If. We'll see how Radcliffe handles this dark complex character (appears to be a challenging character to play).

Official synopsis for Horns:

A young man who is a suspect in the violent murder of his girlfriend wakes up from a night of heavy drinking to find horns sprouting from his head. Intent on finding his girlfriend's murderer and exacting revenge, he finds the horns have a unique ability to coerce people into doing what he wants.

We love the trailer, although not big fans of horror, but this doesn't seem like a straight up horror movie. There definitely seems to be more here besides your basic jump scares. Everything seen and read has us highly intrigued. The story is abruptly interesting to say the least. Based on the best-selling book from Joe Hill, Horns is coming to theaters on October 31 – right in time for Halloween.
